I see methods in your friend's madness because I new frontiers are not discovered by following the crowd. But I perceive he is not very confident of his business plan:

The minimum subscription and maximum are controlled so that account is easily manageable.
My friend says when his expenses are low, its natural that he has less to worry about recovering his initial investments and cost of money like most HYIP admins worrying about.

I see the scheme workable but there is need for investors to see what they want to invest in so he needs a site unless he plans to deal only with his friends and family. He does not need a fancy site if that is what he is afraid of. I will like to hear more about this business plan!

Theirs only one big question. How can you make your hyip site profitable and sustainable at the same time? You need to have in mind a way to make your hyip sustainable if you really want to open a long lasting hyip.

I think HYiP has not be proved as a successful business. Although users rush to these type of investment schemes but the management of the scheme cannot manage it and soon they run away with lot of money invested by thousands of people.
